Lady’s Mantle leaf (Alchemilla vulgaris)
A natural appetite suppressant
Lady’s Mantle grows across the northern hemisphere from Europe to Asia and North America. It has played an important part in herbal medicine for centuries, treating a range of ailments.
In Arabic medicine it’s been traditionally used to suppress appetite and help weight loss and its use was first recorded in 1485.
The tannins in the leaf make the body react as if it was cold. This triggers it to produce heat by burning up stores of fat, a process called thermogenesis. Other chemicals in the leaf may slow the enzymes that break down food making the stomach feel full for longer.
